Good to know
Morning light settles between the redwoods and across the cabin’s weathered beams, creating a stillness that feels rooted in the forest itself. As the air stays cool this time of year, the stone fireplace becomes a natural gathering point, its quiet crackle pairing with the scent of timber all around. Here, you can slow your pace, linger indoors, and watch the trees shift with the winter sky. Sleeping arrangements This 2-bedroom cabin sleeps up to 4 guests across 3 beds, offering a calm setting shaped by historic details and forest surroundings. Each room reflects the cabin’s 1906 character through wood interiors and period elements that support a restful stay. Kitchen and dining An upper-level kitchen places you near the treetops while you prepare simple meals at your own rhythm. The breakfast nook is well suited to planning a day in the cool forest air, while the dining table offers space for shared evenings after exploring Occidental’s trails and nearby landscapes. Comfort and convenience The main bathroom includes a bathtub, and an additional outdoor toilet and shower provide a rustic alternative. A washer on the back deck supports longer stays, and heating keeps the cabin comfortable through colder weather. You will also find WiFi, a TV, bed linens, hangers, an iron, and clothing storage. Internet speeds may vary due to the remote forest setting. Historic character Built in 1906, the cabin carries more than a century of forest life in its beams and gently uneven floors. The impressive stone fireplace anchors the living space, offering a warm indoor refuge when temperatures drop. An antique stove adds a note of authenticity while maintaining ease and functionality throughout. Outdoor living The spacious deck sits beneath tall redwoods, offering a quiet spot to breathe in the crisp seasonal air. Free parking on the property accommodates up to 3 vehicles, and privacy fencing enhances the secluded feeling while keeping access straightforward. An outdoor dining area provides a simple place to pause between winter activities or enjoy the forest’s quiet moments. Home safety Two exterior security cameras are positioned at the front gate and near the back laundry area. Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, a fire extinguisher, and a first aid kit are provided. Pet-friendly Pets are allowed, and assistance animals are always welcome. Perfect for quiet escapes Whether you are settling in for fireside evenings, seeking a calm retreat among the trees, or looking for a character-filled place to reconnect with the natural rhythm of the redwoods, this cabin offers a peaceful, pet-friendly setting shaped by its forest surroundings.
Other Details to Note
This is a vintage cabin built in 1906, so you may notice a few quirks here and there—slightly uneven floors, cozy room sizes, and a charming (but old) stove that takes a little patience. We think it adds to the magic, but want you to be comfy and informed! There is no air conditioning. The cabin stays relatively cool thanks to the forest setting and shaded deck, but we provide fans for warmer days. We’re in the forest! Expect the occasional critter or pine needle—nature is part of the charm. We have regular pest control and do our best to keep everything tidy. WiFi is available, but due to the remote setting, speeds can vary. Great for streaming and email—maybe not ideal for multiple Zoom meetings. We love this little place and hope you will too. If you ever have questions before booking, feel free to reach out! Pets: We allow 1 dog under 60lbs or 2 under 40lbs but we would like to ensure that all guests are safe so if you bring your dog, please be respectful and do not allow them on the furniture, pick up their waste from the yard, do not leave them alone in the house without supervision. Due to our dog visiting the home and one of us having allergies, we do not allow cats or any other animal in the house, thank you for understanding. PLEASE NOTE: Host truck is parked inside the fence 🚗 Camp Meeker roads are narrow and may require careful maneuvering, especially if another car is approaching. Please drive slowly and carefully. 🎵 Amplified music is prohibited outdoors at all times. Sonoma County quiet hours are strictly enforced between 9pm-7am. Please be respectful of our neighbors. Fires are not allowed April to the end of October due to both the heightened risk of wildfires & spare the air days. If you need heat indoors please use the heater. During the winter (November to the end of March), we’re happy to provide firewood and kindling for your stay. We kindly ask that it be enjoyed thoughtfully so all guests can continue to enjoy it. If you’d like more, additional firewood is available at Gonnella’s Country Mart. Most of all, enjoy Camp Meeker!
